Stephen M. Oivanki, P.G.
Environmental Scientist

Mr. Oivanki has 25 years of experience managing environmental research and technical staff for state agencies and private companies and 17 years of oil and gas exploration experience.  His work experience prior to GSRC includes management roles in state government for Mississippi in geologic research and Coastal Zone Management, as well as private sector consulting work on environmental issues and permitting for city, county, and state governments and private industry.   

His professional experience includes property Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), stormwater control and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting, hazardous site assessment and remediation, erosion control, wetland delineation and mitigation, shallow subsurface geologic evaluations, mold assessment and remediation, shoreline protection, coastal geomorphology and coastal processes, NEPA compliance, and Federal and state permit assistance.  While with GSRC, Mr. Oivanki has conducted over 125 Phase I and II ESAs, 164 Transaction Screen Assessments, and 16 NEPA Environmental Assessments.  This experience has provided Mr. Oivanki with a broad knowledge of environmental issues and their implications regarding the state and Federal permit processes, from both the regulator and the regulated industry perspectives.  

His main responsibilities at GSRC include project management, researching and preparing NEPA reports, and conducting Phase I and II ESAs across most of the U.S.    

Mr. Oivanki received Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology from Louisiana State University, and is a Registered Professional Geologist in Louisiana and Mississippi.
