John Ginter
Herpetologist / Wildlife Biologist

Mr. Ginter joined GSRC in 2009 as a herpetologist and wildlife biologist and has 27 years of experience as a field biologist.  He has been involved with a wide array of biological services and tasks in many habitat types and vegetation communities throughout the southern United States, including extensive field experience in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida.  Mr. Ginter also has experience with sensitive landscapes in Iowa, Ohio, and New Jersey.  He has many years of experience collecting field data and writing to support a variety of agency/client documents for permitting, including BAs, BEs, nationwide wetlands permits, jurisdictional wetland determinations, habitat management and mitigation plans, HCPs, and native plant protection ordinances.  Mr. Ginter has conducted field studies on and worked with a variety of land owners and land managers including Federal, tribal, state, and local governments.  Mr. Ginter has organized and conducted field surveys for a variety of Federally listed and state-listed threatened, endangered, rare, and sensitive species, including  red-cockaded woodpeckers, flammulated owls, cactus ferruginous pygmy owls, burrowing owls, Mexican spotted owls, northern goshawks, peregrine falcons, golden eagles, aplomado falcons, and other raptors, southwestern willow flycatchers, greater sage grouse, Bachmanís sparrows, talus snails, flat-tailed horned lizards, gopher tortoises, Mojave desert tortoises, Sonoran desert tortoises, Chiricahua leopard frogs, lesser long-nosed bats, Sonoran pronghorn, Shermanís fox squirrels, Gila top minnows and other Arizona native fish species, Pima pineapple cactus, Santa Cruz pineapple cactus, Cochise pincushion cactus, Arizona claret cup cactus, Peebles pincushion cactus, Tumamoc globeberry, and many other plant and animal species.  Mr. Ginter has designed and implemented large-scale reptile and amphibian inventory studies.  Mr. Ginter has considerable experience with all aspects of jurisdictional waters of the U.S. and wetlands identification and delineation.  Mr. Ginter has extensive experience with habitat restoration, including non-native species mapping and eradication and native species planting design.
